I have gone through two sets of the aerobar pads on my Shiv. The thin material covering the pad comes apart at the seam. I thought about covering them with something and figuring out a way to secure it better than stock…or purchasing a different type. I can’t be the only person with this problem…wondering what you have used that you liked. I have seen all sorts of contraptions at races, sponges, terry cloth towels, etc. Would like something that didn’t look like I made it in my garage in 2 minutes.
I recently used a thick yoga/exercise mat. Worked perfectly. You can also look at getting some CeeGees

Replaced Felt’s awful slick OEM pads two years ago. IME ceegees are dense, comfy, nonslip and durable.
yeah, ceegees are it.
this… thread over
I just replaced the pads on my Vision bars with CeeGees and all I can say is WOW what a difference. Once your arms lay on those pads you never want to leave the aero position!
thanks…ordered them last night. it said to check your bike fit because they are thicker. Do I really need to lower my bars and adjust my fit with these?
You may need a new fit. They are a lot thicker than other pads. In my case, it raised me up a little more but since my fit is not so good anyway, I think it will work out until I buy a new set of aerobars and get a new fit.
Cut some out of a old mouse pad. Not very thick and work great.

Yeah, the CeeGee pads are awesome but they’re thick enough to change fit unless your stock pads were also very thick. In addition to raising me up by about a centimeter up front the CeeGees changed the relationship between my elbow pads and my aero extensions in a way that made the S bends I’d been riding comfortably for several seasons uncomfortable as I had to rock my wrists further around onto the S bends with the higher elbow positions. My base bars don’t allow independent uptilt of the extensions so I ended up swapping to extensions to ski bends and everything is comfortable again.
