I have 25 stitches in my face. It’s day 2 and swelling has gone down tremendously. Stitches get removed Wednesday. Should I wait until then? Doctor said light exercise is okay, but was just curious what anyone else has experienced,
Default, stick with the MD advice.
Ditto above. Not a minute before doctor says OK. I had sutures from a minor foot surgery. IIRC, I could swim again after about 4 weeks from surgery. But, it opened again so I held off until it was solidly healed. Faces heal fast, but you do not want to do anything that will reopen a wound or let germs into a healing wound.
Not recommending this!!
The day before a tri, I split open my forehead. I told the doc I was racing the next day and he used glue instead of stitches. It was my 1st ever podium.
yeah I swam about 4 days after having a basal cell thing removed from my shoulder. The doctor asked me if I was active and I told him I was a swimmer. He tells me he will stitch me up so I can get back to my swimming. He said just wait a few days for the swelling to go down and make sure its not red/infected and go ahead start again. He seemed confident in his work, he used dissolvable stitches and I think he added some extra stitching under the skin. First day I did mostly kicking and then about 3-400 yds swimming and I got out. No issues so I took one more day off and then back to regular schedule.
I have 25 stitches in my face.
I think we need a backstory here
