Stinky shoes

whatever happened to stuffitts shoe deodorizer inserts? Seem to have gone out of business. I see some only on ebay. Any good alternatives. Those things worked great. The others I tried don’t seem to work as well.

When I use the dr scholls powder regularly, it does take care of the odor pretty well. Now this whole winter i did not keep up that habbit. My shoes were super stinky by now. I gave them a soak in a tub with Nathan Sports detergenat and some vinegar and dried them out on the porch. They are back to smelling fresh. I love this detergent for all my workout gear.

I’ll have to dry that. For my running shoes I’d worry about the vinegar deteriorating the glue or something. The stuffitts shoe inserts were great. I’d stuff them in after every workout even if my shoes were wet from rain and it would soak and deodorize everything

I’m betting the detergent did most of the work
.

I heard putting them in a deep freezer overnight works well. Haven’t tried it though. So many “how to kill the smell” remedies out there…

I always put my shoes in a plastic bag and then the freezer. I think it “burns” or kills the bacteria…or maybe it doesnt…but it does kill the stinch.

Besides rotating many, many shoes, I have been using this for years

I take the insoles out, scrub them with hot water and dish soap then set them outside to dry. I tried all the other recommendations but they didn’t work for me.

Lysol has some stuff you run in the rinse cycle. works great for all athletic wear.

key is to not let them get stinky in the first place. you’ve got to get them dry asap, and best way to do that is to use your trainer fan. Point it straight at your shoes (running or cycling) and they’ll be dry in an hour.
