Still one of the most beautiful bikes around

Ok so i was browsing some pics and saw this one.

after so many years, this is still one of the best looking bikes around. I don’t know why but i like it…

That bike was assembled in my garage once, long ago. It was beautiful then and it remains so today. It’s various owners over the years have shared the love!

Nice. Simple. Purpose built. And I’d bet that with the right engine that bike could win Kona today. Is it still with a good home?

That’s because MY SUPER-FASHION-SUPER-STYLISH ironman tri top calls for yout attention… otherwise you wouldn’t even notice the 97’ QR Kilo.

So much for studying… hein? :stuck_out_tongue:

The best! It’s my bike, Klep has used it twice for Half IM races.

I bought that from big kahuna, thanks again T! :-)))

Is that one of the steel frame versions? I’ll bet they ride nice. My first tri bike was an older second hand aluminium QR Kilo.

LOL…spoken like a true pro and sponsored triathlete!!!

Are you and SAC going through media training to help with the pre-race interviews now?

Good luck in Sweden (?)

;o)

Smitty,

I’ve owned that bike since 1998. That bike was the first tribike that Sergio ever saw and still likes it a lot. I do too. Even if you’re kidding, you’re being a bit unfair to us.

Yeah…that bike has stood the test of time- still looks fast.

Always liked those early Cosmic wheels too.

Classy.

Now lets talk about that orange thing…

If the intention of my post was to brag QR, i would do so by posting my own bike that is racked at the right end side of the pic (i have a lot of pics), not a bike that is no longer made (unfortunately):-).

yes i will race in sweden,

no media training for me, just race training

C’mon SAC…you dish it out, so you must be able to take it once in awhile!

;o)

I was hurt…

I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but you made my day! With some updates installed, that’s the bike I ride with a modicum of success. I didn’t know it’s vintage. I know that the younger members of the race series I do look at my ride with a certain amount of derision because it isn’t the newest bike out there. But to me it’s a good bike, it still looks good, and it is under me when I pass some, but not many, of them on the ride. Unfortunately I then have to transition to my '43 thin legs and that’s when I get dusted. Anyway, thanks for the photo.

I was kidding…

Is that Slowman vintage?

Yep, one of the last one’s, built by Ves I think.

Nop. It’s a aluminum one.

I wouldn’t carry a steel frame over a Long Distance event with 1650 meters of total elevation gained! I would be dead once on the run… well… lol

Now lets talk about that orange thing…
Careful mr Gopha, Krep is a major fashion authority ;-)))

QR had several truly remarkable bikes in their line under the ownership of Dan Empfield.

The one pictured was used by Spencer Smith if I recall correctly.

One of my favorite tri bikes of all time, to this day, was the outstanding Quintana Roo Kilo Private Reserve. The bike had a fairing behind the head tube manufactured for QR by Steve Hed in carbon fiber. The rest of the bike was made by Ves Mandaric of Yaqui bikes. It was a sensational bike and fit me wonderfully. I really loved that bike and had some great races on it. I actually owned 2 of them, a yellow one and a black one. I did Ironman Canada 1997 on the bike and had a fine ride.

The Quintana Roo Redstone was somewhat of a genetic predescessor to Cervelo’s P3 family. It featured an unusual rear fairing behind the seat lug area. The color was odd, a pale, reddish hue that was very distinctive (ugly). That was another ground-breaking bike.

Your Redstone, sir:
