Steve McQueen and stationary bike

Circa 1963. Just thought it was a cool picture of the stationary bike with the drop down bars. As many of you know, Steve was an accomplished motorcycle racer, and he used to work out almost everyday.

Steve was the man. Bullitt started my love affair of mustangs. He was the king of cool.

I am/was a big Steve McQueen fan. He was a REALLY good off road motorcycle racer. He represented the United States in Europe on the Six Days team.

Unfortunately the quote was from a movie that starred Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke) not Steve McQueen. Kinda easy to mix up I guess. Both studly in their own way.

Now back to the tri - geek stuff

Bro, your quote is from Cool Hand Luke.

“Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand.”

OK, so you want Steve McQueen quotes (and not Paul Newman)-

“Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting.”

And one of the most misquoted quotes of all time, from one of his wifes:

Ali MacGraw - “I remember seeing him across the swimming pool and my knees were knocking. He radiated such macho energy. Men wanted to be like him. Uptight society ladies and biker molls wanted to be with him.”

Steve was the man. Bullitt started my love affair of mustangs. He was the king of cool.

My dad and I watched this online over the Thanksgiving weekend about 5 x. I can remember seeing it the first time and it was like the opening sequence to Star Wars: no talking, just appreciate!

What’s always been odd about that chase scene is the old guy with the glasses and suit driving that car so unemotional, even as he nails the railing.

I dont think hes wearing underwear.

Real men don’t wear underwear. in fact, I’m not wearing any right now. no pants either. typing in the raw.

my mother was steve mcqueens nanny for 5 years . Changed the diapers of Chad Mcqueen .

I just zoomed in on the bike and I think it has short cranks. The man was way ahead of his time!

Not only did it have short cranks, but it was a fixie. That guy was hard core.

“Unfortunately the quote was from a movie that starred Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke) not Steve McQueen”

Sort of like in the 1970’s when Paul Newman showed up as a spectator on pit row at the Indy 500. He was talking to driver and previous winner A.J. Foyt. When they were finished talking Foyt responded “see you again sometime Steve.”

LOL!! It was easy to confuse these guys. Sort of like Pachino and DeNiro.

Real men don’t wear underwear. in fact, I’m not wearing any right now. no pants either. typing in the raw.

I beg your pardon!
