Step up again...please

You ST’ers have been great in the past…Please consider giving to the Red Cross, 1-800-HELPNOW for aid in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. $10 buys a case of bottled water, or some clothes for a kid, or shoes for a parent. It is easy to see how New Orleans (or what is left of it) needs your assistance, but the outlying communities are now buckling under the influx of the refugees. Our schools can’t open because they are filled with displaced elderly or families. There is no gas or power in many areas outside New Orleans still…and we are in the dog days of summer…heat index over 100.

Please take moment, skip a few Starbuck’s visits, bypass those new Defeet socks you wanted, send clothes and shoes, and give where it is desperately needed. Really, it ALL makes a difference. Any amount.

I wonder if there are any triathletes heading for Kona in October that are in the middle of all this mess?

If so, we should help!

(not that I am ignoring others - this is a tri site!)

There are some from the New Orleans/Northshore area. I think Kona is far from their minds at the moment but it might be nice to try and find out if they still intend to do it and if they need bikes/gear.

I know this is a tri site…but goodness knows that doesn’t keep ANYTHING from being discussed here!
