I have been hearing stories about the many dogs chasing bikers on one of the county roads on the Steelhead bike course. Any ideas on how that will be addressed or are we at our own defense? I use to belong to a bike club that puts on a very good size tour and they would ride the course or drive it to mark out the problems with dogs and then ask the owners to please tie them up while the ride was going on. Just wondering if this would be the case here. I love dogs but not when they are chasing me.
It hasn’t been a problem the first two years. I have been chased by a little tiny yippy dog while riding the course but it wasn’t there on either race day. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.
the bike course for the Steelhead is partially my creation. The dogs are fine, I ride out there ALL the time and rarely get chased. The course the past couples years has hod only one dog that ever pops his head out, but that has only been during training rides and not during the race. The new return trip porion of the course did have a few dogs along the way, but only one that I can think of was not chained and it just barked.
No worries - Ken and the Outlaws will take care of the dogs on the course. Our main concern right now if that the county ripped up about one mile of our new road on the bike course and we might have to go back to last year course on Blue Star Hwy. We will let you know at the race meeting. Z
