Steelhead Roll Call/ST Meet?

I will be there, I do hope the water is a bit warmer than the Firecracker last month, that was the coldest quarter mile I have ever swam.

Lake Michigan in Chicago is 77 today. That’s a little warm with a wetsuit.

Looking for a drinking buddy? If you find yourself near New Buffalo, I’ll happily buy you a couple.

Awww…but the people who live there are so damn friendly! Seriously. When I’ve been out there to ride the course, I start to feel like I’m in a parade when I get to that section. Anyone who’s outside is waving hello - the kids, the little old ladies, the people who stop as they’re pulling out of their driveways to let us pass, and then wave as they’re driving by. It’s like a sappy Hallmark commercial or something.

Needless to say, I like that section.

Looking forward to the race - and am very very happy that the water is warmer than it was at Firecracker!

I’m in. In the Port Huron area visiting in laws until tomorrow. Hope this heat drops a bit but other than that, weather looks like it should be perfect!!

The chances of finding me at the Stray Dog are, right now, high to very high…The chances of finding me with a beer in my hand at finish time + 15 minutes are a lock…

I am just hoping I will have a beer instead of an IV bag after the finish this year!

In . . . and very much looking forward to my first HIM. This could be the start of our coach-athlete relationship Paulo? Do you think you could handle a thirtysomething poseur?

I rode the course last week and saw a lot of stray dogs . . . and got a lot of scratches in my P3C wheel cutout from stones on some less than stellar roads at the northernmost end of the course.

Also, I just tonight got a room in South Haven due to a cancellation. I decided not to drive in from Grand Haven in the AM.

My utterly luxurious new P3C
Any pictures? You know 7 bikes out of 10 will be black and white P3C with Zipp wheelsets…
Can you believe it . . . with Cervelo past its peak and all.

I’m in too…traveling from CO and doing 1 half per weekend on almost no run training…ugh!
Hey Paulo…wanting to meet you since your posts are top notch in entertainment value : ).
I’m game for a ST gathering post-race with beer in hand.

I’ll be there, hoping to continue trend of setting PW’s this year. Paulo, will you run down the finisher’s shoot with me so I won’t be alone in my finisher’s picture?

Bring on the heat! Hotter is better. I’ve already started sodium and glycerol loading, I just hope I won’t OD this time before the race.

I’m there.

Someone turn down the flippin heat though!

Right now saturday is supposed to have a high of 85, low of 70 and be partly cloudy, 60% humidity and light breeze.

We’ll be there.

I’m in.

It looks like it is going to be a hot one:

And the water temperatures have been climbing:

Based on a recent trip, I believe the Silver Beach was the Clarion last year which is where I stayed. Lets just say it was liveable but I didn’t even consider booking there this year. Only 1 elevator sort of worked which made for a fun weekend of carrying my bike up 6 flights of stairs. The air conditioning in the common areas didn’t work but at least the rooms were cool. And all of the ice machines in the hotel were broken.

Hopefully, the new name brought new ownership and these things have been taken care of.

Im in… Hard to believe the day is finally here. I signed up for this in December and at the time couldn’t swim more than 5 yards freestyle… Should be a fun time, hope I can swim straight…

I am in for the second year.

Last year I was in Wave 3, I think. This year I am in Wave 14. I dunno how that will affect things, I’ve been, like, wave 83 in Chicago so I am used to waiting to start.

My brand-new (still has the tags on) wife will be volunteering again in the transition area.
