Stank - Bike Shoes

Can someone tell me the most effective method of removing the stink from my bike shoes? I’ve froze them, soaked them in water/vinegar - neither has worked. They are bad.

Does freezing something help remove stink from it? I have never heard of that.

Throw them away.

I had discovered baking soda after riding. That seems to kill the odor in a profylactic (however the fuck you spell it) fashion.

new shoes mate…and stop peeing in them…
.

Freezing supposely kills the bacteria. My stank is not bacteria i guess because they still stink.

I bet you don’t wear socks. That is the **BIGGEST **culprit.

Pour an ample amount of foot powder in them and let them dry outside, away from direct sunlight.

Pissed in them once time during the FL Half last year. I don’t do that anymore…it’s not worth it. I now hose the pavement from the bike.

I do not wear socks. Sidi T1s are extremely comfortable shoes for me and from that perspective do not require socks. Plus I do a lot of short distance racing and putting socks on would slow me down in transition.

DR Scholls odor eater spray, works wonders.

Thank you. See you at IMFL.

Not wearing socks conributes greatly towards shoe stink. But then again, you are racing triathlons.

try dousing them in rubbing alcohol, let sit for a few minutes, then rinse them really well, or they will smell like alcohol instead of stank.

one lesson i learned from im canada is not to do a half assed job in cleaning pissed on bike shoes. i was lucky to salvage them this way, as they smelled nasty.

I dont wear socks and I put dryer sheets in my shoes after everyride. It helps some

You tri geeks piss on your shoes? With the banana hammock y’all wear, you should be aiming much better than that.

I have barely gotten a drop on my drivetrain, and I still wear wool cycling shorts. But I can’t 'splain away the smell of rotten meat in my shorts. Okay,I still use a sirloin in my shorts for long rides…

JUST KIDDING!!!

You’re kidding about IMFL, right? What…IMHI wasn’t hard enough for you?

Naw, i was just using that one as a warm-up. I’m a Florida boy by birth.

soak in dilute bleach solution and change out the insole. Soak your feet in vinager a few times.

Put them in the dishwasher. Make sure to stuff them with something (newspaper works and speeds up drying) after you take them out or they WILL shrink.

Remember, cycling shoes were out.

Are your shoes so bad that you smell them while riding?
