Sorry as I’m sure this has been discussed before , what stand/table are STers using to hold their laptop or tables while using Zwift with a smart trainer?
Are RAD stands decent ?$200 seems a little high , just wondering what options are out there .
Ironing board!
The RAD desk is good if you’re looking for something that allows you to fully use a laptop while on the trainer (think answering emails during a recovery ride). For that, I think the price is worth it. If you’re only looking to hold a laptop, but not touch it while riding, there are cheaper options - I’ve used a projector tripod stand that was like $30 and worked well for that. I have the desk now, but wanted to do more than watch Netflix during rides.
Two options:
-
Music stand ($20-$30 on amazon)
-
Overbed Table ($60 on amazon). More expensive, but more stable and you can put other stuff (fans, drinks, keyboards, etc.) on it.

.
Homemade! Made it ~3 years ago so I could pull it in over the front wheel and put the laptop at a good height.
Now I have moved it back to put the fan front center, and it holds a monitor connected to the laptop, so I use a TV stand for controls…and I’ve left Zwift for FulGaz.
There’s a Taren video
Lol

Please send help…and snacks!
I set my laptop on a workbench in the basement. Before that I used a butcher block table, but my daughter took when she moved into an apartment.
If your daughter isn’t using your butcher block table can you let me know .
I bought the KOM Cycling Desk from Amazon, as reviewed by DCRainmaker here: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2021/03/kom-cycling-trainer-media-deskreview.html
No complaints. Does exactly what I want it for: flat surface for laptop and devices, two water bottle holders. Currently selling for $90 but has been lower in the past.
Overbed tables can often be found on sale for less from people who no longer need them. Or their estates.
A music stand (as referenced already) is perfect for a tablet, I picked one up for $25 like 5 years ago and it’s still going strong.

Another vote for a music stand. $30 and will last a lifetime.
I already owned a tripod. I went to Amazon and bought a flat tray that screws onto the tripod.
Cheap stool off craigslist and tablet holder. About $45 total. Bonus that the stool can still be used as a stool.
I have to say, if I’m senior management at Peloton, I’m lobbying to have these cheap solutions declared unsafe or outright banned.
Bought a cheaper one from KOM Cycling & it works great.
If you want a solution that’s better than a music stand and made specifically for a laptop, the Samson LTS50 is a dedicated laptop stand on a telescoping tripod base with a sticky surface for the computer. It’s a lot more sturdy/durable than your average run of the mill music stand.

Disclaimer: I work for the company that makes this product. That being said, I use this product for this exact application and previously used a music stand. I now use the music stand to hand an iPad as a second screen.
