ST: Please interview Kevin McDowell; great story and 2 ITU podiums in last month

So I hate to plug ITU as much as I do, and I always kinda wait to see if anyone will ever post stuff. BUT Kevin McDowell just nailed his 2nd podium and big result at ITU WC Chengdu today with his 2nd place. This comes after his FISU World University Games win in Brazil a few weeks ago.

Kevin finished 3rd at World Champs in 2010 when LV won. Shortly after he got diagnosed with leukemia and had a tough battle with that for several years. Now he’s back and it looks like he’s gotten his strength back and such a good kid.

Slowman or Herbert, he would be a great interview for ST and the forum posters to learn more about. He’s got an incredible story, but bigger than that, he’s an world class athlete.

Slight correction
Kevin took 3rd in 2010, LV took 4th that year. LV had basically changed his focus to running but decided to come back to triathlon when Kevin was diagnosed. LV won in 2011.
Details are omitted but that’s the gist of it.

Ah yes, thanks for that correction.

I would love to see an interview with Kevin McDowell - sounds like a pretty inspiring person and great comeback story… AND more ITU is always good.

Congrats to Kevin on his great races.

Saw the post race clip of him this morning, had never heard of him, but could feel how joyous he was with his performance just in that little clip - love that kind of stuff - interview please.

Wow - great result there. Beating some fast dudes - Shoemaker, Malloy, RunPD. Is he getting a start at the big show this weekend? I assume those guys were over there because they’re racing Yokohama.

Currently only Maloy, Shoemaker, and Pedersen are on starting list from USA (notice LV withdrew).

Great interview with Kevin McDowell on the front page. I continue to be amazed at the patience and maturity of many of these young athletes on their road to recovery…best wishes to Kevin and his racing future. I’ll be looking for #61 at London this weekend

Thank you ST for another great interview.
