ST demographics (1)

So what is the typical STer? I know the party line (rides a cervelo, wears Asics, compression socks, torn between one piece or two depending on length of race, uses Zipps, probably a wheelcover, definitely powermeter, possibly powercranks, does flipturns, shaves legs usually…)

But what is the average age and income of the typical man and woman of this forum? Perhaps this question has been asked and answered, and I am sure Slowman or Herbert has the data, but I am just curious…

I don’t have a power meter and I don’t do flip turns :stuck_out_tongue:
.

I don’t own Zipps, PM, or a Cervelo. What are flip turns - a new bike trick?

Notice the “party line” tag- following discussions, it seems that everyone follows that pattern- not exclusively, but majority. Thats what I mean, though…maybe it is a vocal minority that might skew preceptions? I do not have a cervelo, power meter, power cranks, etc, but I do run in asics, do flip turns at times, etc…

I don’t think you’ll get too many people interested in posting their income.

I think income might need to be a poll question…

Regardless… of your suggested party line… i do ride a cervelo (aluminum). Otherwise none apply to me. And I’m 32. Today.
Wear brooks or saucony.
No compression anyting.
not torn. Don’t even wear a proper tri suit.
Stock wheels so far.

no PC.
I can barely swim, let alone do flip turns.
Never shaved my legs.

I don’t know how anyone would have the answer to this but it would be interesting to know.
Lately it has seemed to me that the average age is moving downward.

In order of importance.

I am a husband.
I am a father of three.
I have a full time job and a part time job. My wife does not have employment outside the house.
I do OK with money, but can’t justify spending too much on tris.

I wear Nike running shoes.
I wear Sam’s Club socks if I wear socks at all.
I ride an aluminum Trek road bike with (gasp) 105 components.
I’ve never actually touched a Zipp wheel
I’ve never even seen a power meter in person
But, I do flip turns

And, I do OK in the 35-40 AG.

•$55k a year which I think is okay for a 26 year old in Morgantown, WV

Litespeed and Kutoas for Pedalsaurus. Age is right at 40. Cervelo?!?!? Come on people be a bit more original, the only thing Canadian worth buying are Rush and Triumph cd’s - <>. The socks are lame and the aero speed helmets scream flamer unless you are carrying a pro card and the extra second or two actually matters. Same with shaving your legs. Half of this forum needs to turn in their man cards. I guess I’m not a typical STer.

As far as net income is concerned it will be far less under the new administration than it was previously.

I’m a Social Services case manager so you can guess the income(it ain’t much).

Just so everyone knows, my intent was not to get the community to self-report on these issues. I am only trying to get a sense of the “average” (or Median) STer who is active (or passive/trolling) on ST. There are plenty of postings about bikes, shoes, socks, wetsuits, etc. Who is ST? Maybe it would be better served in a ST poll, as has been suggested…but this would be good demographics info to have…and I am curious, though not invested in the results…

I ride a Felt (tri), a Cervelo (road) and a Cinelli (MTB)
