SRM/quark which crankset?

My PT died and the the company says new one required disappointed with my experience and thinking of dropping the whole PT idea and going to a crank based SRM or Quarq may be even the Look Power pedals.

But my question is: the SRM and Quarq can come with a multitude of cranks which one should I go for and is there any real difference?

I am between SRAM S975 GXP
FSA SL-K Light
Rotor 3D
In addition to the Durace option for the SRM

would there be any difference between them?

I know there are people pro SRM and others pro Quarq but I don’t know if there is a real life difference between the two.

Rotor 3D; being able to change your own battery is important!

And I have had just about every PM there is.

I have had the S975 for 3 years and it is has been flawless with the Quarq. I use it on both road and tri bike and it takes less than 2 minutes to swap it from bike to bike

I’ve had a couple of SRM’s and 3 Quarqs. I like the SRM a little better, but it is such a PIA to own. Sending it back for battery replacement is a deal killer for me. My Quarqs have been stable and reliable. I hate the rings that come on the S975 version, they are very flexy. If you send them dura-ace rings they will install them and I think that is the best solution. I hear the FSA rings are solid and have also heard many people rave about the Rotor rings.

Quarq with the new Cannondale Hollowgram if you can run BB30, otherwise Quarq Rotor 3D
.

For maximum compatibility and future-proofness, get a bb30 Quarq, either the S975 or the new SRAM Red. Both can be run on BBright, standard BB30, and with a rotor BSA30 adapter, on regular BSA68 frames. I’m currently running an S975 BB30 quarq on a BSA frame, and it works fine. They go for as cheap as $900 used on ebay.

I will have to check compatibility on my bike I have a Look 596 and will have to get rid of the Zed cranks and install the adapter that came with the bike not sure what it adapt to though!
I over second hand!!! that how I got stung on my PT

I like the Rotors as they look nice but do you think they offer any real difference to warrant the extra 400$?

Dura ace SRM. Expensive, but it will work with EVERY frame out there. Manufacturers purposely spec their BB system to accomodate that crank specifically.

Quarq is definitely very nice, but can be a pain with BB standards. Rotor has the same issue. The BB30 to BSA adapter is junk, it uses very small bearings that don’t spin all that well.

Thanks, It is 1600$ more but point taken I heard good things about the Shimano set up too.
