SRM Crank Help

I recently acquired a bike for my wife from a friend of a family member. On the bike came this model SRM power crank set. I have no idea what model this is or what I need to do to make this functional. There is no head unit that came with it so I definitely need one of those, will a Garmin work? After searching online I have found that these seem to be a good product, and I definitely want to use it. Any feedback at all would be helpful.

you can download a manual there. You might want to get it recalibrated too.

So after talking to customer service at SRM, it appears that this is a wired version that requires their head unit, so no Garmin. Is it worth it to spend the $800 dollars to get it recalibrated and hooked up with all the wiring and head unit, or am I better off selling it and going a different route for power. Any idea what this thing is worth, I have no clue?

you can probably get a newer crank and PCV for about the same on ebay. I would avoid the $800 investment. If you get a new wired one, that crank will still work on it as well. Just may have to send it in to have the batteries replaced in the crank.

If memory serves me correctly the blue ones like yours are the amateur models as apposed to the “Pro”. At this time you should be able to buy a wired Pro along with the appropriate head unit for $800 on Ebay. The Pro uses more stain gauges and may well be more accurate though some of the amateurs have been know to be pretty accurate.

YMMV

Not worth the $800 investment. It’s not worth much, since it looks like it’s the “Amateur” model, which is less accurate and cheaper than the “Pro” model.
