Sram wireless blips on extension

Hello there!

Finally after a long wait I got my wireless blips for the tt bike. Several reasons I got these, but number one is that I couldn’t find the regular blips with the longer wire in stock anywhere. I’ve got quite long extensions and want try to hide the blipbox at least a bit. But I also have a long term goal of getting rid of the blipbox all together!

Now for the actual question: How on earth are you supposed to put the wireless blips on extension in any good looking and functional way? I’ve given up the bar tape because it’s just awful… Also I’ve got regular round bars, not any of the newer fancy ones.

Can you show me some pictures of how you have mounted yours?

I have some of the wired ones from aliexpress that I didn’t end up using because I couldn’t find a blipbox and the zipp AXS bars were actually cheaper.

DM me if you’re interested, I’m trying to slowly get rid of extra parts.

I designed and 3d printed some bar end mounts for mine:

I post about them here: https://forum.slowtwitch.com/forum/?post=7787211#p7787211
.

Those would be perfect if they pointed forward. Yours seem to be made for aerobars with the part that you hold on to pointing upwards?

I use these on my clip-on aero bars on my road bike. They work perfectly for my needs.

Those look very nice! Thanks!

Will get pics for you later and I agree, mounting them isn’t the best experience on a tri bike or any bike IMO. For the life of me I’m not sure why they chose the shape they did for them outside of what I assume is a 2032 battery inside them…

My little rant, I digress SRAM put a few mount designs on thingverse here:

Having printed all of the above I prefer the last one. The first one (actually two designs and a dummy blip) are kind of bulky for me on my setup, I’d rather just tape over them vs. the mount to be honest when it comes to them. I may modify the first design a bit by dissecting it with my dremel and making sort of a half piece that I can tape over for my base/brake bar. The second is perfect for my aero bars.

Next thing I don’t love about the blips is the actual button you use on them. I found a company in the Netherlands that makes some replacement buttons that I ordered and like a lot better. They’re also making some extension mounts that aren’t available yet and some other wireless blip mounts you might like… just FYI the buttons aren’t as easy to replace as the video shows. Pushing the pin out of the button is pretty straight forward but the few I did so far, it was a good 5 minutes of trying to get the pin back in but it did go back in.

Link below to their upcoming extensions and the rest of the AXS stuff is in their shop. If you buy the blips from them, they will install the buttons free of charge if you buy buttons as well.

Will post pics later when I can get some.

One last thing, you don’t need the blipbox after you’ve paired the wireless blip.

There are no batteries in them. They are meant to be disposal. Longevity is based on use.

There are non-replaceable coin-cell batteries in them. This makes them disposable and likely results in the strange shape as Xeon mentioned above. https://support.sram.com/…-batteries-are-dead-

My guess is it is a 2032 but I’ve yet to see anyone crack one open yet.

I digress here are my pics on the ones I liked on my aero bars… I’m toying with where I want them in terms of button placement and I need to put on new tape since my new ones are essentially plugs vs. the previous ones I was using that covered the end of the bar. Also have the aftermarket buttons installed on them that I really like as well.

Now the ones I printed and don’t like… they’re kind of bulky for me. I may try cutting the ones for my base bar in half and blending them into the bar and taping over them but to be determined…
