SRAM TT Brake Lever Pivot Bolt Replacement? Lost during ride

The pivot bolt? on my SRAM TT brake lever popped off during my ride yesterday. I had to take some electrical tape off of my bike to put it over the other side of the bolt to prevent my brake from falling apart.

Is this something that can be easily replaced? Any experience with this?

did you contact SRAM?

I’m sure they can send a replacement bolt of some sort for free if you ask nicely!

I’ll be doing that first thing tomorrow! I didn’t even know that part was a bolt. Figured it was a solid piece that ran through the lever to pivot off of.

I had that happen to a set of SRAM TT brake levers. I went to the local hardware store and found a replacement in the specialty fasteners slide out drawers where they keep things like metric bolts, nylon fasteners and the unusual stuff. They’re sometimes called Chicago Screws and are basically an alloy version of the plastic mating nut and bolt sets shipped with plastic wheel covers. They look something like: http://www.amazon.com/L189-Aluminum-Chicago-Screw-Post/dp/B00BCUAESA/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1364740116&sr=8-16&keywords=chicago+screw

The trick is finding the correct length for the SRAM levers but the female sleeve side can be filed down a bit if you buy a tad long.

Sure contact SRAM as they can probably send you the exact replacement but you can find a good solution that still lies flush and aero in your local hardware store. I put some locktite on mine and it didn’t slip out a again.
