I recently bought a SRAM S975 power meter and am having some issues with the battery. The power meter seemed to have come with a dead battery, so I took the battery from my girlfriend’s power meter (we bought at the same time) and all was good. I bought her a new battery and we were both on our way.
Well, the battery I took from her power meter died within a week, so I bought a brand new one. I just figured the batteries that come in the units may have been bad. However, that brand new battery has only been in there for 3 weeks, and is dead already. Has anyone experienced an issue like this before? The power meter seems to be shutting off after 10 minutes of dormancy like it’s supposed to, so I’m not sure what could be going on. Possibly just another bad battery? Seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened I guess.
Same problem with mine. Had to send it in for repairs and it came back same problem. Second time they replaced it. Got it back a couple of days ago but waiting to install it on a new build so not sure if finally fixed or not.
Hey guys i know this has been dead for a couple of months but i wanted to check and see if you were able to remedy the issue because i think i have having a more severe case. I just got my s975 and i can power it up and it pairs with my edge 500 and works for between 1-5 minutes then its just unpaired without warning. I picked up another battery and i had the same issue happen. The edge will only see it when i take the battery out and put it back in then it dies in a couple of minutes. Could the PM be literally zapping the batteries dead? I haven been in touch with Quarq and i hope that i can remedy the issue asap because it is awfully frustrating.
Yea i took it outside a little while ago after it was working on the trainer for about 5-7 minutes. sometime between taking it off the trainer and getting it outside it lost its pairing. i peddled outside for about 5-10 minutes and had the unit try and search for the PM with no success. I initially thought there might have been interference with my Garmin speed/cadence sensor but i unpaired everything and still nothing.
Hmm, that’s a little different than what I dealt with. One thing to check would be the magnet placement to make sure it isn’t on the cusp of being out of range for the pm to work. That’s probably a long shot though. I would just contact SRAM. My experience was about as good as it gets. Within a day, I had a shipping label sent to me by SRAM. I mailed out my pm on a Monday and had it back by Friday. Good luck though, I know it’s frustrating, but hang in there…
ok also check to make sure the magnet is in the correct position. may the road vibrations are causing it to get far away? Idk I’m just throwing out things
GRRR yea def frustrating Dex. Thanks for the help. clearly its a great product as when im searching for problems its hard to come by almost any for Quarq. I just must be the lucky one!

As Dex said, please contact our customer service team if you’re still experiencing problems and they will help you out.
I bought mine new in March. Battery that came in it lasted 17 hours. Replaced it and have 55 more hours on it so far. Chalked that up to it probably had been sitting on a shelf for a year (since I bought it new but it was the previous year’s model". So far so good.
