What do we know or think about when rival AXS will be updated? I believe this group set was released in April of 2021, so it is now over 3 years old. The new red just came out this year, and I believe force was last year, so is it reasonable to think that rival would be updated next year?
I am in the market for a new road bike and am hesitant to get a rival equipped bike right now, since if the group set is updated soon then I will have spent a lot of money for tech that is not even the newest version.
Seems with the new Red out now there should be enough trickle down to refresh Rival. But…what are you hoping to gain other than being able to say your have the newest? Everyone wants the newest/best but 99.9% wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in performance. I just “upgraded” my RD from Rival to the new Red and would have no idea if it wasn’t for the $800 missing from my bank account
But performance aside, I love the newer aesthetics of red and force, so if they overhauled the aesthetics that would be a big plus for me. Also you never know they might trickle down improved front shifting, change cassette compatibilities, available teeth ratios, etc etc. I believe the new red has bonus buttons on the shifters as well for computer control and stuff, who knows maybe some of that would come down. What if it’s 13 speed? Haha.
I think your argument is valid for same generation group sets of different level, ie current ultegra di2 versus current dura ace di2. But I think it’s a more clear agreement that new ultegra di2 is better than old ultegra di2.
Well, if wheeltop ever sorts out the massive Problems they have.
Same with Ltwoo, who announced a tt set…
We have had massive problems with LTWOO elekctronic groupsets and most important no after sales service or help.
If it comes down to a racebike, i would never trust a chinese groupset with all the training invested in preparation.
Sram seems to be a good alternative with the blips working without the expensive blip box.
i am planning a tt bike, hydraulic disc brakes on a budget for the winter…
Wheeltop…check the post on chinertown forum…they have some really bad brake fails without knowing why…and that is not the only problem wheeltop groupsets have…of course, they do have a shi-load of youtube reviews coming as they are pushing the product…but currently it is not sellable legally anyway (PM Brakes patent (shimano, if i remember correctly)
I have 10 speed, 11 speed and 12 speed on various bikes I own. Is any better and will I change out the groupo? Yes, eventually when they wear out. My go to bike is still SRAM Red eTap 11 speed and will stay that way for a long time. The latest great groupo even if it kicks in another gear will never make me faster. Fit, comfort and a very good training plan to work on the engine will make me faster. At this point in my life, older and retired I just want to ride my bikes and do.I plan to keep all of my bikes until I have to replace the bike.
