SRAM Red vs Cannondale Hollowgram Crank

I’m upgrading my bike this offseason and my new bike comes with a Hollowgram Si crank. I put a SRAM Red crank on my old bike last year along with a Stages power meter. I don’t know much about the Cannondale crank but from what I have been able to dig up people seem to love them. I’d really appreciate any feedback on whether I should just move my Sram+Stages over to the new bike and sell the Cannondale or should I keep the Cannondale and buy another Stages power meter for it and try to sell my Sram with the power meter. Or I guess the more direct question is is one crank significantly better than the other? Thanks for any help.

There aren’t really any performance differences between any crank sets.

If you ride in the mountains you could pick the one that is lighter. But that might be due to the chainrings which you can easily swap out.

If you are doing TTs you might pick the one that looks more aerodynamic. That might save you half a second per ironman.

Or the one that looks best.
Or the one whose bottom bracket will creak in your bike the least.

It’s highly unlikely you’d notice any sort of performance difference between the hollowgram or the Red crank. Neither is substantially better than the other. The only things I can think of that could sway your decision would be that I think the Hollowgram crank is slightly lighter (if that matters to you) and the Hollowgram has the ability to change spiders between standard (130 BCD) and compact (110 BCD), if that matters to you.

IMO: You should sell the Cannondale crank, not buy another the Stages, and put that money towards a crank based power meter.

Okay, thanks. I was assuming that it would be mostly a lateral move. Thank you for confirming. I guess the easiest route for me will be to sell the new Cannondale and swap in my current crank.
