SRAM R2C Shifter question

Haven’t used them myself, but was speaking to my friend who owns a shop yesterday who talked me out of them-- he told me he found the shifting to require a lot of force to execute a shift, and the shifts are very loud. So based on his feedback, what you’re experiencing may be normal.

I may still give them a go, however. I ripped all the Dura Ace off my road bike in favor of Red, which is much better IMO, but still have DA on my TT bike.

I just put a set on my TT bike this week. I don’t have too many miles on them yet, mostly just tooling around getting the shifters set up, but my experience is that in shifts pushing away from you (from big to small chainring in front and larger to smaller cog in the rear) that the shift takes a good push, but that shifts pulling toward you are, if anything, easier.

The front shifter is much louder than the rear when going from big to small ring - a pretty good “pop” when you make that shift, but I figure it’s a TT bike. If I’m making a bunch of shifts to my small ring things have gone terribly wrong!

All in all I like them so far. I’m training on the TT bike tomorrow so I’ll have a better sense after that ride.

Thanks for the reply. I did a long ride with them today. I really llke the rear shifter. However the front shifter is kind of a pain. I don’t under stand why you have to go through 4 clicks to shift. Maybe there is an easier way to shift. Other than that I like. What do you think?

Did another ride on them today - really like the rear shifter a lot. The front seems like they built in one more click than they needed, which makes the throw feel a bit long when going from big ring to small ring. Like I said before, that’s not a huge deal on a TT bike, and it does drop from big to small before you hit that last click, you just have to “trim” the front derailleur at that point.

On both shifters the “pull” shifts feel more natural, not as clunky, but I do like them - never missed a shift, and like having the levers always at my neutral position. All in all no regrets - definitely sticking with them.
