Sram Force AXS Powermeter upgrade - spider vs crank arm

Hi all,

Just want to get a sense check, but I was looking at upgrading my Sram Force AXS (Dub) 1x crank with a power meter. There is the left-only spindle-based unit for $340 but there is also - from my understanding - the option to install the Power Meter Spider ($483) as well. The spider might be a tad tougher to install, but I’m pretty handy and have torque wrenches and TX20 bits at the ready.

So for an extra $140, wouldn’t it make a bit more sense to get the spider if you wanted left/right/total power? Am I missing something?

Yes, definitely get the spider if you’re going to buy one. Always better to have a power meter as opposed to a power estimator.

You aren’t missing anything. Get the spider.

It’s possible to get the spider on sale. I got one for $326 shipped inc taxes back in Feb. The install is pretty simple.

I have the cheap one, it was included with my Canyon. I also have Assiome Favero Duo. They usually track within 5 W From eachother.

From my perspective: save the money, buy some other equipment… unless you also hate to have the second best…
