I think it came out a couple of weeks ago. Just started it.
lets discuss at the end
i watched it
Lots to talk about but I’ll wait until people are caught up. Seasons 2 and 3 didn’t hit quite as hard as season 1 did, but I still really enjoyed it.
I only got one or two episodes into Season 2 but quit watching. Just seemed to be re-cycling everything from S1, nothing new and so it became just annoying to watch and boring, instead of quirky, strange and new like S1 experience was. S1 was lightening in a bottle I think.
That said, maybe I didn’t give S2 enough of a chance to evolve.
S2 does take it in a slightly different direction and as time goes on it goes farther and farther away from S1. S1 was definitely lightning in a bottle though!
I finished S3.
Just finished as well. I definitely did not predict the ending. Seems like it was set up to go further.
So there’s apparently an American version of Squid Game coming that’s being created by David Fincher. The ending seems like a natural bridge to that but it was actually coincidental.
Hwang Dong-hyuk spoke with Variety and said that Cate Blanchett’s cameo is actually not a a direct link to the project.
“Actually no, not at all. It’s not related to that. All I wanted to have was just an impactful ending, and that’s all that was to it. Honestly, I haven’t heard officially from Netflix about David Fincher creating a Squid Game,” he said. “I have heard the rumors of course though. But again, it was just the ending that I wanted for Season 3.”
I’m not sure I buy that entirely, like they just coincidentally created the perfect segue to a new series?
In any event I like how it ended, and I didn’t see it coming either. For the last “game” they played I changed my prediction on how it would end half a dozen times before it was over.
