Ok ST mechanics. I can’t get the brakes to stop squealing on my Venge. I’m running Zipp 303’s and have the Zipp recommended pads (grey) and SRAM Force calipers if it matters. I’ve adjusted it myself, sanded the pads. I’ve had the shop adjust them. They squeal like crazy and it’s annoying.
My Zipp 808’s on my TT bike make no noise at all
What can I do to try and get these things to stop squealing? Looking for suggestions
The squealing is due to vibration so do everything you can to reduce that. Tighten the caliper mounting bolt on the fork and bridge between the stays. Make sure your QRs are tightened. If it is the front that squealing make sure your headset is preloaded correctly. If none of that solves it you need to angle the pads so that the front touches the rim before the rear. This usually solves it as a last resort.

Huh…putting proper “toe-in” on brake pads is usually my first resort
Start shopping for an extra loud portable stereo system.
Lack of toe-in or worn and/or glazed pads are almost always to blame. I usually reshape/clean pads after a few months of use minimally anyway. Just remove the pad and holder and place into a vise. Work on it with some 60 grit sandpaper. A block will help you keep or regain it’s square shape but if you work carefully it isn’t really needed. Also while you are at it check for metal shards and tiny stones that can embed themselves in the pad material and remove those with tweezers.
what the hell are the brakes for?
all seriousness aside, are they toed in right about 1-2 degrees?
Thanks all, they are toed in and have been sanded recently. The pads are clean.
I’ll make sure the caliper bolt is tight and headset is good
