can anyone comment on this helmet? im getting tired of waiting for the giro 2 and can get one of these bay boys for $190 or so. hows the fit, comfort and does it get pretty hot under there?? any noticable time savings yada yada
I have one and have used it in 2 races so far, an olympic and the Hawaii 70.3. Felt fine, not too hot at all, fit is comfortable and adjustable. Not sure about speed, time savings, etc, but I did my best bike legs ever in those 2 races. The first was in really wet conditions, so the helmet acted as an umbrella… a feature not commonly known! ![]()
I’m not an expert, but it felt good and fast, looked good with my bike and race suit and it ended up being very comfortable.
So far only some short du’s and a couple TT’s…love it, will do first oly with it in the heat sunday. I don’t see any problems and will use it up to Ironman and i am only a mid packer but it is not space ship ugly either so i luv it!
I would say it will be faster than a regular helmet, that being said i think you need a good position and keep that head pretty even all the time.

I had one, and loved the fit, but the ear pieces get in the way of some sunglasses, i.e. Oakley Pro M, though I hear the Radar is OK. That said, I opted for the Rudy Syton without the ear pieces. I feel it’s a little cooler temperature wise, and allows for any choice in sunglasses. Plus, my wife said I looked like a “Super Dork” with the Spiuk, and only a “Dork” with the Rudy. One thing to be aware of, and I personally don’t know if it’s a pro or con, but the plastic shell of the Spiuk seems to have an air gap between it and the foam core, unlike other TT helmets that I’ve seen where the shell is applied directly to the core. In other words, the outside shell is squishy, you can press against it and it gives before it hits the foam core beneath.
I have a big melon (From all the education, I think) and it fit very tight. It oly comes in one size, so if you’re on either end of the spectrum you well could be out of luck.

I’ve used it for an Olympic distance and 1/2 IM. I give it a thumbs up. Not sure if it makes me faster, but it makes me feel like I’m going faster. My biggest worry about it was heat, and I have to say that I haven’t been able to notice any difference between my Spiuk and my Atmos road helmet. Only downside: it’s definitely dorkier than some of the other aero helmets on the market.
I had the same problem. Went with the LG Rocket instead.

I’ll be up in NYC next weeke and probably look at the Rocket. Was the fit noticeably different than the Kronos?
I don’t care if it makes me faster or slower… It just looks fast!! Plus the added coolness factor…
I just picked one of these up yesterday. The helmet is super light, it looks like it would be much heavier than it actually is. The first thing I noticed when I put it on is that it’s wide for me. The ear flaps leave about an inch gap between the side of my head and the helmet.
I’m probably going to returng it and get something that fits a little bit narrower.
