Ok so I thought I’d get some good training in this week with running the longroyute to my regular spin class and run back. So its about a 10 mile round trip with 45 mins of spinning in between. I just ran in lycra and span in it too.
Now I’ve got the worst saddle sores I’ve ever had. Weeping gashes and little round blisters too. I’ve burst them and dried themn up with medicated talc powder.
Is there anything else I should do, as walking like John Wayne isn’t such a good look for me, and I’m not touching a bike or running til everything is better !
Thanks.
Oh - looking around it may be a form of athletes foot of the crotch. Nice ! Anyone experienced this before and any ideas how long it willtake to clear ?
Well, I’d say to wear cycling-specific shorts to “spin” in… thats rule#1.
Also, spin with the saddle at the correct height. Maybe, the saddle was alittle too high? Try lubing the sitting area with chamois butt’r will decrease the chaving too…
I think that too many spin classes are spending a lot of time trying to spin too fast… Not all, but many instructors are not cyclists and get alittle carried away with the whole “spinning cadence” thing. A lot of people(both men and women) are getting many injuries to the tender areas from bouncing up and down trying to spin. (FWIW, just my observation…)
But I think cycling-shorts, lube, and correct saddle height is the key…
Good luck and heal that area quick!!!
