I kept getting flats last season, so I started riding maxxis refuse tires for training at the end of last season (last 2 rides before IMFL - 2 long slow rides, so I didn’t notice maybe?)…
I just started riding again and I feel super slow compared to where I was last year. I’m riding slower now then I ever have? Slower then before I even ever rode a bike.
Is there a major difference between maxxis refuse and pro race 3’s? Like 1 mph…?
I don’t have any Crr (Coeff. of Friction due to Rolling Resistance) data on the Maxxis tires but I think you can’t expect much from a product called ‘Refuse’ - a synonym for garbage.

I believe that, I just can’t believe that tires can vary that much.
You rode the tires last year and didn’t feel slower.
You stopped riding
You starting riding recently and now feel slow.
Correct on the second 2. I did ride the maxxis tires on two traing rides last season, but they were slow longer rides (>90 miles) so I never noticed.
I’m sure some of the loss is being out of shape but geez.
Maybe biking isn’t like running for me. Running I can just stop & start at anytime and not lose fitness… maybe I just suck at biking. Entirely possible.
