Speed concept size for height?

i have found an incredible deal on a used speed concept 7.8 but in a medium frame. i am 6’2" tall with relatively long legs (i always have to buy 34" inseam when i buy pants). will this work at all? i would be new to aero position so will practice on trainer all winter to get used to it, and will take it to local trek dealer for fit, where my gf bought her madone 6.5.
will the medium frame work for me, or not?
thanks for all input.

I am 6’1" on a Large, with a faily long stem. It fits…but I honestly think a medium would be much too small, at least for me.

i was afraid that is what i will find out. thanks!

I am 5"10 with a 33" inseam and ride an M SC7.2. I run a 60mm stem tho and the bike fits perfectly. 1 spacer under my stem so not too aggresive but still aero enough.

Like everyone would say, get a fit first. Considering its your first tri fit, you do not have an idea of your optimal fit, so the best way is get a fitting first.

regarding getting a fit first, i am not sure how to get it first if i am trying to find one used.

this has been a great learning experience. Thanks for your advice. and i love your quote!

I’m 6’0" with 33.5" inseam and I ride a Large with a 50/10 stem.

There was a full thread on this not too long ago. People posted their heights and frame sizes.

I ended buying a Shiv, but while the SC was still in play, I got a fit on one. I’m 6’2 and was a Large.

Go to a local FIST certified fitter. See “fitters” tab above. Spend the money to get your fit coordinates and brands that will fit you. They go find your bike.

With your height and inseam, you may need a tall and narrow bike. Your legs are disproportionately long relative to your body/torso.

The common wisdom is:

  1. Get a bike frame that fits your body type
  2. Get the largest frame size possible (it’s better to fill the space with a aero frame than lots of spacers or seatpost)
  3. Train hard.

Some tall and narrow bikes are scott, cannondale, some treks, and maybe specialized. The size M sounds too small.

6’1’‘, about 34’’ inseam, professionally fit on the L and XL. The XL fit much better, and I went with that. Very pleased with my decision on the bike and its fit.

I found the thread! Thanks for the heads up. i couldn’t imagine i was the only one who wanted to know!
