If my current stack is 625mm and my current reach is 475mm (measured how trek has instructed me to measure according to the following PDF) and I know I need to be about 10mm further back on my reach, based on the details on this page:
http://www.trekbikes.com/pdf/2010/triathlon/speedconcept_fit_v3.pdf
what size bike and then stem setup should I choose?
Considering what trek says at the beginning of that PDF, I’m thinking a medium with a stem reach of 100mm and rise of 10mm. That would put me a bit longer on the reach but if I’m reading that correctly there is -60 to +40 mm of adjustment which would put me well within where I need to be (465mm). Right? Or am I missing something?
Thanks for the help!
You’re exactly right. Except I’d go for the 100/45 stem if I were you, so that you can run the bars with fewer spacers, which looks better IMO. But yes, the extensions and pads slide forward 40mm and backward 60mm from the quoted reach for each stem.
I would agree, but with my current stack at 625 if I went with the 100/45 that wouldn’t leave me much room to get lower if I wanted to right?
Well, the reason I’d go with the lowest number of spacers is so that your setup looks cleaner, and the cables are truly hidden, like Lieto’s bike below.
If you ever need to go lower than 620mm, you can just order the other stem unit.

So, If I am not currently comfortable on my current TT bike how would I go about getting the right measurements to pick a size. I am really comfy on my roadie but how does that compare? Any ideas?
