Got this thing in the mail today, and I’m feeling silly. How does one install this? I’ve found install for the gen 1 only. Does anyone know how to do this on a 2014+ draft box II?
Quick release to the frame, Draft Box II snaps in to the QR. Hope this helps.
So in every photo i’ve seen of an installed draft box II, it looks like it sits flush against the frame and this “quick release” piece is just a placeholder for when no draft box is installed. The draft box itself has two screws which cannot be removed, nor can the top of the screws be accessed to screw it on/off. When you take off the placeholder piece, there are two holes drilled in frame which line up with the draft box, but you can’t access the tops of the screws to twist them into frame. With those screws being static like they are, I don’t see how it is possible to quick release the box into that bracket/quick release/placeholder piece.
It slides on.
hopefully this is better with the photos… those screws on the box cant be moved or pulled out or turned. see how they block the box from interfacing with that piece on the rear of the frame?
At the bottom of the box on the first picture is a button. While depressing it, you can slide the box attachment off the box. It will make sense then.

You somehow have two attachments… one already on the frame and one on the box. The one on the box isn’t necessary. Just the one on the frame. I’m not even sure how you ended up with two. Remove the attachment on the box and you’ll see how the box will slide into the frame attachment. Make sense?
Looking at these pictures, made me say WTF! Like the previous poster stated, remove the piece that is on the box and it will slide in.
You guys were dead right. That bracket that was stuck in the box was not sliding out even with the quick release depressed due to the top of one screw catching on the plastic. It was a PITA to get out, but finally came out and is now installed. You guys were right… it’s crazy easy. No idea why I had two pieces.

I lost mine too. Was never able to get a replacement… my fix was to stick a cheap wooden chopstick in there and break it off just a few mm too long so it acts in the same function as the quick-release button. I rarely take the box off, but if I need to I can get a grip on the little bit of wood sticking out and pull it out.
If we’re on the same wavelength I’ve lost the whole black piece that screws to the SC frame - have you screwed a chopstick to the frame ??
yeah, the chopstick works great… just kidding. We’re clearly not on the same wavelength. I misunderstood what you were asking. Too funny.
i’m in the same boat as previous poster and need a new quick release mount. If anyone has an extra I’d love to purchase it from you. Otherwise, it looks like I’ve got to repurchase the total draft box II assembly for ~$50.
