Speed bottle as flat kit

Anyone know if the bontrager speed bottle (or one of the other cage-mounted aero bottles) open up wide enough to fit a flat kit in? It looks from the pic that the whole top of the speed bottle comes off, but I wanted to make sure before I bought one.

No, the actual opening is only about 1.5-2" in diameter.

so it sounds like the black top part snaps on and off but then there is a circular opening under it that actually opens up into the bottle. Could the top of the bottle (under the black cap) be cut so that there is a big opening to put spares in but still have the black cap snap back on?

Or does the cap snap on to the circular opening and not at the periphery of the actual cap?

The latter. If you want to use it as a flat kit, you can just cut a big hole in the top and duct tape it closed without losing any aero really.

Not as aero, but still…

I also have a Cage Rocket. It’s not the lightest thing on earth, but it’s pretty much waterproof and works great for me.

X3 for the Cage Rocket. I use one for all my training rides. Not aero, but I can fit 2 tubes, 2 CO2’s, a cell phone, a credit card, and some food. I’ve enver raced with it, but it is great for training.
