Looking at the Specialized Shiv. I’m 6’2. Currently riding a 56cm cervelo P1 that feels too small. That being said should I go with the Large Shive or XL?
Well, I’m 6’ and on a large… But that doesn’t mean anything. Are you legs long or short? Seriously, if you can, go see a fitter.
The Shiv Tri has a really high stack, so if you have a remotely aggressive position you may have to size down to get the front end low enough (I had to run a negative stem on mine).
i’m 6.0 and ride an M
.
I’m 6’2 on an xl. I have it slammed. I could probably ride a large well. However, I am very comfy on it as it is so why mess with it. . Long legs shorter torso.
6’3" on a large. Wouldn’t want anything bigger.
I’m a little over 6’1 I ride a 58cm Tarmac and a large Shiv…that said, get fitted!
Could you please define “slammed”.
I tried to get answers and got this and am now even more confused:
6’1 here with the 33.5 inseam. I ride a M.
Just my two cents. I would go with the smaller size. You can always add more stack with the spacer kit but you can only remove so much before you have to get a extreme stem. I have a Shiv in a medium and I am either a 54 or M on all bikes that I have ridden 52cm always too small and 56 were always too bike. In the case of the Shiv, I wish I could have gone with the small as I am at the lowest stack of the stock configuration. I will be getting the low stack clamps which will drop me a down a bit more.
What is your stack and reach?
Shiv has an awesome chart

You can’t just pick a size based on how tall you are.

Great reference material. Very helpful. Thanks.

I am 6’4 on a XL. Wouldn’t go smaller.
6’2 on a large here.

A stem like this (lowered all the way down):

I’m 6.1, I ride a large shiv, but it be honest I could happily of fit a medium, and I certainly wouldn’t want to go any bigger!
6’1" and ride a medium. My position isn’t agressive and I have the stock bars adjusted as low as they will go. I can ride a 56 or 58 Tarmac. I almost bought a large shiv coming from regular road bikes and assuming fit would be similar. Luckily, my LBS stepped in an talked some sense into me.
I started with a lot of spacers on the medium, but removed them as I adapted to an aero position. The large would have been fine starting out, but ultimately a big mistake. If there is any doubt, I would size down. It’s easy to make a small bike fit larger, but there isn’t much you can do with a bike that’s too large.
