SPD-SL pedals - 105 vs ultegra?

After 7 years and LOTS of miles, it looks like it’s finally time to replace the old style Ultegra pedals (PD-6600) on my road bike (cleat retention is getting worn).Any opinions on 6700 series Ultegra vs 5700 series 105? I am not a weight-weenie, so alloy body is fine. Appears that the 105 and Ultegra use the same exact bearings and races. Difference is mainly in finish, and Ultegra is made in Japan vs 105 made in Malaysia. Is there anything I am missing that would justify the almost the significant price difference (Ultegra is almost double the 105)?

EDIT: Looks like I missed this previous discussion:

I was looking to upgrade pedals and was considering Ultegra vs 105. Ended up buying the 105 carbon. No regrets, they are great pedals.

if not much higher price point, the lighter the pedal is a good thing. ever run in boots compared to sneakers?

ultegra carbon. 260g, 10g heavier than Duracci. You can get them for $120 shipped from the GB (ribble and wiggle carry them)

Had never heard of these until now.

Impressive Shimano.

I think there’s little if any real world difference between the 105s and the Ultegras. The bearing design might be a little better on the Ultegras, maybe it’s a few grams lighter but you’re really splitting hairs there. Having said that, amortizing the cost of a set of pedals over the lifespan of pedals as durable as these two models allows the extra cost of the Ultegras to be almost meaningless. I got the alloy-bodied Ultegras simply because the rest of my bike is Ultegra. Stupid reason, but there you go.

…except that the weight differences we are talking about is more like the difference between 9 oz vs 10 or 11 oz running shoes. Significant if you are racing and every second counts, but less so for most everyone else. And if I was really concerned about weight, I would NOT be looking at Shimano pedals

PD-5700 (105 ) alloy - 325 gm - $67 (prices online, usually domestic)
PD-6700 SL alloy - 314 gm - $120

PD-5700-C carbon - 275 gm - $97
PD-6800 carbon - 260 gm - $137

The 105 carbons look like the sweet price point, but looking at the beat-up condition of my old alloy ultegra pedals, wondering if the carbon body will hold up as well.
