Solutions for muscle twitch/spasm?

This is a two-part question. No expertise required.

Lately my right eyelid has been twitching like crazy – on and off, most of the day, since early April. Sometime in early May, my left inner quad (vastus medialis, anyone?) picked up the habit. It’s twitching as I sit here writing this.

I had routine blood work done in April as well, and everything was as normal as could be. I’m not dehydrated or over-caffeinated. I’m just perplexed.

  1. Does anybody else have ongoing, involuntary muscle twitching?

  2. Do you know the cause – and more importantly, the remedy? It can be scientific or purely anecdotal, I’m not picky.

Lay off the meth?

But seriously, any recent concussions? My twitches always seem to pick up after a solid knock to the head. You’re lucky it’s only your eyelid

I’ve had this before too, but usually on if I’ve not gotten enough sleep. I’ve heard that it could be a form of a vitamin deficiency, but who knows how credible that is.

For me, supplementing with magnesium solved the issue.

The eyelid thing though, that’s very common. Usually stress/fatigue related.

my eyelid starts twitching when i’m shelled - every time i’ve severely under-rested i get that annoying little tic, which isn’t visible but drives me insane. at that point the only cure is to back off whatever is causing it; reduce training, de-stress, get more sleep. rest is the cure 100% of the time.

can’t help you with the quad - i get all kinds of little muscle spasms in my right leg due to some nerve damage. after a run it looks like someone’s playing an acoustic guitar with the back of my calves as the strings…

good luck - cheers!

x2. Too much vitamin C can also contribute from what i’ve read and experinced.
