Last Thursday I was doing a mile on the track and during the last lap I felt a cramping in my right calf. I wanted to finish my mile, so I kept running for about six to ten steps but the cramping was getting worse and I suspected that if I kept running it would pull so I stopped before I heard any snaps or anything. I was limping. I stretched it out and tried to run a few steps again, but it still hurt too much to run without limping so I drove home. I did the RICE thing and the next day I was still limping, but I was able to swim without pain. On Saturday, I was no longer limping and I was able to do an easy trainer ride without pain.
The pain is still there, it is very deep in the calf muscle. It hurts a little when I walk but not much. When should I try to run again? I have a sprint tri next weekend. Should I do it? (My main race is a sprint in China on September 10th. I don’t want to be injured for that race.)
