I sold my wedding dress and I’m planning to use some of the $$ to buy an aero helmet.
I can get a good price on POC helmets, and I love the fit of the XS/S for my small noggin.
I’m wondering if there is any data comparing the POC Cerebel to other short-tailed helmets out there, or comparing the Cerebel to the Octal Aero. Anyone with personal experience with either of these helmets?
If you’re really going to treat yourself, I have a total love affair with my Garneau P-09. And i believe it’s a helmet that tends to test fast on many people.

Hmm… food for thought, it is a treat for myself; it’s just hard to pass up the deal I get on POC and how happy I’ve been with them so far.

You’re my kind of people
If you want a “safe bet” aero helmet either go with the LG P-09 or the Giro A2. Data is a bit sparse on the new POC helmets ATM but, if you’re going to go aero, go full aero and skip the aero road.

Thanks
Also, thanks too for affirming my thinking full aero over aero road.
I picked up a Cerebel a few weeks ago. I’ve ridden in it twice but I like it much more than my Catlike Chrono that it replaced. The visors are top notch and it fits great. As for venting, well it’s not awesome but not terrible either. The heat index where I live has been consistently over 100 for the past month and the 2 rides I’ve done in this helmet I never felt like I was dying. For reference my road helmet is a POC Octal (not the aero) and it vents amazingly, and while my Cerebel is certainly not as vented, I never get uncomfortable in it.
My experience points to the S-Works Evade as a good balance of comfort, aero and ventilation. My shop also sells Smith Helmets (Overtake) which is supposed to be safer, slightly less aero than Evade (1 second slower over 40km) but with superior ventilation. I’m sold on Specialized because of their R&D budget, their proprietary wind tunnel and their successes in professional racing.

Every time I mention the Evade (my current helmet) as a viable option for those looking for an aero helmet, I get flamed by cretins who lack the ability to interpret empirical data.
