2012 HED Jet 9 FR (flamme rouge C2 23mm wide profile) rear wheel with G3 Powertap. It is a 10 speed. I have a barely used 11 speed hub that I’ll sell for $50. It is installable by hand and doesn’t require a re-dish.
This is a 2012 HED Jet 9 wheel with a G3 Powertap. It has performed flawlessly in several races and a few training rides over the last 3 years. Probably 1000-1500 miles total on the wheel but may be less. I’m only selling because I got a crank-based power meter so I don’t need this wheel anymore. This auction includes the wheel and rim tape only (NO skewer included).
I also have a Wheelbuilder aerojacket cover. It’s been used at less than 10 races. It shows use and has a small split in the plastic at the valve cutout but it doesn’t affect performance. I usually taped over the valve hole during races anyway, so it gets covered.
To be totally transparent: A couple months after I received this wheel/Powertap, the battery appeared dead. I tried to change it. The tool they provide is far from easy to use, so I had to use some external tools to get the “Powercap” removed. This did cause a little scarring on the plastic but nothing major. Then when I got the battery replaced and tried to put the Powercap back in the electronic piece that connects the Powercap to the hub got bent. It actually severed most of the tiny little copper pieces half way. I panicked but straightened it all out and got it stuck in correctly and it’s worked fine since. I’ve even changed batteries twice and there is no problem. Still works perfectly. I’ve provided pictures that show exactly where the dummy mark is.
So, I wanted to be honest about anything in this wheel’s past. The facts are that this wheel is in near perfect condition and the G3 Powertap works as prescribed, even with my stupid re-install blunder. If it WAS TO FAIL the PowerCAP can easily be replaced for a fairly moderate price as I understand it (< $150 I believe and you can also replace with a Bluetooth Powercap if you want, which is nice), but again, I’ve had no problems with it at all.
This is a fantastic super fast wheel. I’m only selling because I got a disc wheel with crank-based power so I don’t need this.
