Soccer Mom Rant - Ladies/Soccer Moms, help me understand this

This is an open letter to all the Soccer Moms out there…

So i go out for lunch today cause i did not have enough time to pack any lunch today. I head over to McDonald’s to grab a quick bite. The drive-thru is backed up with about 7 cars waiting to order. No biggie. I go inside to have the meal. Then what do i see…? 2 counters open with about 6 people inline waiting (at each counter) to place their orders. The reason for this…? U guessed it - Soccer moms are there with their kids. I look around and 2/3rd’s of the joint is filled with kids.

So, i ask you ladies/Soccer moms…

Why is it, that out of the entire day you spend at home with your kids, why do you have to bring your kids out for lunch at the same time when all of corporate America is out at lunch at the same time…? Could you not just time it, so that you either get there 1/2 hr earlier or 1/2 hour later than the 12 noon time when everyone else eats…?

And, don’t give me the excuse that you were at work all day and decided to swing by the daycare to pick your kid up and head out for lunch. All the moms i see are always dressed in shorts and a T-shirt.

Argggghhhh…! WTF…!!!

Paul

eww McD’s. you couldn’t pay me to eat there.

Just as there are working people whose lunch hour is constrained (clearly you are one, else you could eat at off hours, too, right?), so too are parents (not just moms) whose schedule constrains the time of eating lunch. I’m pretty sure that soccer practice usually isn’t scheduled at noon, but I could be wrong.

I hope you don’t get your panties in a bunch at rush hour because all those other people are driving when you want to drive. The nerve!

Are you saying that You have NEVER eaten at McD’s…? Although i eat at McD’s, i still do try to eat off the healthier stuff.

Hmm, they must not have gotten the memo about your schedule and how important it is that the entire world work around it. Your self importance is astounding.

You make 6 kids wait an extra 30 min for their lunch and see how that works out.

That’s what we’re out there doing, trying to f-up your day. Give me a break. People go to lunch at all different times. No way I’m going to try and re-arrange my schedule to accommodate your oh so important quickie lunch at McDonald’s (and you really don’t have any idea what these moms have been up to before lunch). You want a quick bite, pack a lunch and bring it to work. It’ll be better for you than McDonald’s anyway.

When I say Soccer Moms, i mean the “Stay-at-home-moms” or if you would call it “housewifes”.

Please enlighten me on what schedules the parents (who obviously are not at work due to their attire) have that require them to eat at that same time. Most people (who work) on the other hand, are constrained to having lunch from 12:00 to 12:30 pm. Not everyone who work has the flexibility to have lunch whenever they want.

You’re going to McDonald’s at noon to buy lunch, and are upset because there are other people at McDonald’s at noon wanting to buy lunch? And a triathlon forum is the place you choose to complain about that? I think you should write a formal letter of complaint to McDonald’s corp. Certainly they could ban all those children from their establishment, especially between 12:00 and 1:00, I mean, what are they thinking?

Next time try Burger King.

If there’s one thing Soccer Moms hate, it’s flame-broiling…

Every try and fend off a child when they are hungry?

I see the problem differently: you not being organized enough to have time to pack a lunch to eat at the cube farm? and you being delayed from your lunch by how many minutes?

I ate MCD after lake placid, large fries and a twenty piece nugget, and oh yeah…supersized coke. Dense calories are good after IM’s.

I think you just won the self-involved asshole of the week award.

By any chance, you don’t have kids, do you? There are all sorts of things like camp or soccer practice in the morning and the afternoon nap for the little one that constrain things like when to have lunch.

Do you have lunch time flexibility? Many “stay-at-home” parents do not.

I think he gets the whole month.

oh man, you’re in for it.

And you obviously dont’ have kids.

I think we need a soccer mom only tri, the aid stations could be really jammed with volunteers to make them feel at home when they stop to feed. Kidding

Why does it make you mad that a bunch of people are eating at a resturant at lunch time?

Tell me about it!

Same thing happened to me the other day. Went to Chuck-E-Cheese’s for a quick bite. Damn place was full of snot-faced, little shits running around, spilling food and drink, playing games, making noise and generally creating mayhem. Couldn’t their parents at least calm and quiet them down enough so that I could concentrate and read the newspaper. Parenting today!

Well, everyone else kind of already said it, but as a Dad who spends a ton of time with his kids, the last thing I think about when planning a meal is…you.

And that’s a very special award considering the Obsessive/Compulsive rich environment found on this forum : )
