Yes, I do realize that there’s cardboard fluff on the axle nut. That wheel just came out of a shipping box and I’m too lazy to re-shoot the pic. Focus on the bearings. A touch of light oil and these will spin FOREVER.
Sweet, Trois Etoiles spokes? I’ve got a set that look a lot like that, with Nuovo Record road hubs and Mavic tubie rims (my first tubies, 35 years old) hanging out in the garage. I should go take some pix…

I can’t say, lest I rob too much of my own thunder for when I post the completed bike. But yes - they are for the track. 
But what, pray tell, is on the other end of those spokes? Hopefully something made of Italian aluminium. French would also be acceptable.
