So who makes a Tri suit for the BIG boys? 6'4 240lbs?

Ok so who makes a Tri suit for the BIG boys? 6’4 240lbs? Wanted to get me some gear for my first upcoming 70.3 and was wondering what to get? Also do you just wear this the entire day? Under the wet suit then on the bike and run? I figure so but don’t want to be the newbie changing 3 times during the event. This is just a goal of mine to finish the day. Can’t wait. Any info on who makes big boy Tri Stuff would be appreciated…

I’m 6’3" and 230 on a good day. I had jerseys made by Champion systems and tacked a trisuit onto the order. I haven’t raced in it yet, but I’m pleased with the fit. I’m thinking about trying an Orca too, but haven’t tried any on yet.

I have one from Zoot, which I like. It’s black with grey accents and white piping. I had posted a thread last summer about this as I’m about 240 also. 2XU tends to be too tight. I would probably try to try one on, rather than ordering online. There will be something out there. Good luck!

yes you wear it under your wetsuit and then cycle, run in it. If you havent used one before you need to try and find some to try on. I would also think about using a 2 piece suit as it makes bathroom stops easier!!

6’4" 240lb is not that big. Most manufacturers will have something that will fit you but you will need to try them on. Ordering sight unseen is a bad move for people with body shapes out of the ordinary.

Having said that I will second the thought that you should look at two piece outfits. In a long day (and as your stated aim is simply to finish then it will likely be a long day for a guy your size) you will get a lot less trouble from a two piece when you find you need a toilet stop, even if that is just before the race. There is no real benefit in a one piece over a two if you are wearing a wetsuit.

I’m 6’3" 225 and have had good luck with DeSoto’s tri suits. Here is there sizing chart:

You might have to call them to make an XXL trisuit as I don’t see any in that size but they are very accomodating. Good luck. I’ve used the Forza and Riviera trisuits over the years.

As an aside - trying to capture the big boy thread. (I am only 6’-3" and 210.) How many big guys have done IM’s? I did a couple of HIM’s last year, and the run pretty much killed me. But now am thinking a full IM is in my future. Tell me it’s doable. And what’s with no Clyde category in 70.3’s?

Back to the thread. I was about to order a XL TYR (either the competitor or carbon)… but am now re-thinking the convenience of a two piece. Any experiences with the AMP pad?

My only issue with the 2 piece is the same thing I have with cycling shorts vs. bibs. I hate that the shirts typically ride up your back when you are riding. Running it doesn’t really matter but I wear bibs for cycling just for that reason. Maybe the tri stuff doesn’t ride up your back on the bike though like a regular cycling jersey? Thoughts, comments?
As far as doing a Full Ironman for a Clydesdale I saw many in the St. George Ironman the past few years. I think that is what actually got me to thinking I could actually do one of these. I think I will stick to the Half Irons and smaller though. The full Irons are insane…

That’s why I wear a singlet. Good to see another big firefighter out there like me. I started racing 3 years ago 6’3" 260# now at 220# DeSoto has worked well have a 2XU XXL that works well but now wear a fire dept team suit (don’t know who made it) that had 2" added to the torso when I ordered it, legs a little short but who cares we look ridiculous half the time anyway!

If you happen to need a wetsuit I have a TYR Hurricane Cat 1 that would fit you. Only used it once when I realized my shop owner ordered me an XXL instead of an XL.

Adktriguy thank you very much for the offer but I bought one already off of the slowtwitch for sale forum. Hopefully the one I bought will be a good one. Wish I could try it out at the pool sometime but no I would look like a tool at the local swimming pool in a full wetsuit. To cold for open water for at least a few more months…

I don’t have a problem with a one piece on bathroom pit stops unless you are dropping a deuce. You just treat the trisuit like you do bib cycling shorts with a jersey over the top and pull the leg up to get your junk out.

Keep us in mind for the future. You would fit our XL. huubdesign.com
