I would classify joining Facebook as one of my Lesser Regrets of last decade.
So tell me why? What made you pull the trigger? I am on the fence and am making cases for and against it. Just curious to see the benefit others gleam from FB.
I found out that my father joined it. That’s what broke me down. I’m not a big fan of social networking sites. People tend to share too much information about themselves, and those around them. More important, They’re too freaking hard to figure out!!!
I always said I was the most computer literate when I was twelve. Of course, that was when the Apple 2C first came out.

You may be a better candidate for Twitter. Apparently, it’s not much more than the Facebook status update (now called “What’s on your mind?”). Very simple to use and the “kids” today just seem to dig it, so you’ll be hip, too. ;p
I actually hoped I could have avoided MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter altogether.
ST is about as close to social networking on the web as I wanted to get.
So I opened up my facebook profile and there’s like twelve pages of people’s crap on it. How do I control some of this?
LOL. It’s funny to see people do things they don’t want to really do. Now if you’d send me a grand you can continue to participate in your self flagellation…
I don’t really want to work for a living. If I give you $1,000, will you work for me?

FB is bad/good news. I’ve gotten to be friends with people here on ST through Facebook, including people who I have complete political disagreements on but really like as a person. The traffic between us STers on Facebook is hilarious. I love getting to know everyone’s quirks.
I’ve also connected with college friends, Jr High classmates and High School classmates. Crazy!
I joined when I found out people were posting pictures of me from events I had attended. I had to see how bad I looked. I have now gone off the deep end and have formed a FB group for our tri and cycling buddies. 16 people have joined so far. We post our ride schedules and send a mass invite to everyone that has joined our group.
It will be interesting who from my past contacts me. I just got a contact from someone I’ve NEVER heard of before. Is that common?
I am still not on Facebook and I’m not giving in!

Somewhat. Just “ignore” anyone you don’t know or don’t want to talk to.
You’re missing out on a great party between a bunch of us!

I agree with JenHS. You should join FB. We are having a blast cyber-stalking each other.

i think FB is so boring. honestly, i don’t get it.
Not totally enthralled with it yet. Like I said originally, I need to hire a 12 year old to teach me how to use it, and then explain why it’s cool.

My 66 y/o father bought a laptop and his 70 y/o brother is teaching him how to use it. They both sent facebook invites to my e-mail. It just doesn’t hold any appeal, for some reason. My wife is the same way- at 32, we’re looking into going full luddite!
I guess the oolder you are, the easier Facebook is to get in touch with long lost friends. But for me, if I don’t keep in contact, there’s usually a reason.
I don’t think I have time!!!
