Snowstorm or tredmill?

so, do i go outside and run in the snowstorm, or do 12 miles inside?

Get your fat ass outside. And just for asking you’re now doing 15 miles instead of 12. Keep up the sissy talk and we’ll make it 20.

Need to buy a vowel?

ok here is the question now, did that really happen or are you one of the few people out there with more spare time/time spent in photoshop than i am?

Actually I don’t know if that’s real or not. You can never tell what’s real anymore these days because of Photoshop.

Now you wanna buy my spare time?!?!

What is the purpose of your run? If you’re just doing an LSD run, go out in the snow. If you’re doing a run with any tempo or other speed work you may be better off on the TM. Keep in mind you can get your HR up quite a bit in the snow while running much slower.

I think I am going to be a wimp tomorrow and do the treadmill instead of snow- I go out in almost anything but not that
.

yeah this is LSD, and i have been on the tredmill too much recently.

as long as i can see we’ll be good

haha do you do anything in particular aside from molest poles that i might want to buy your time for;)
.

Hey those poles had it comin’.

Uh I can cook a good meal. That’s about it.

Whats snow? Now, do I go out onto the wet ground and run, or just jump on the indoor trainer? :o)

Dave

we are up to 6 inches since i woke up this moring and still coming down hard

crazy stuff
.

Neither. Get out the x-country skiis.

hahaha they are at home, and i am at school.

besides i am more likely to get hurt on those than running in the snow. the two times i have done that i ate it big time. (yes i also walk into doorframes)

I have done 12 miles on the Dreadmill for 3 straight Sundays. I chalk it up to mental toughness. Did the last one without music. With only SportsCenter to watch in front of me (sans volume), I now know all there is to know about Nascar (who’s single, who wants kids), the NBA (who’s gay), and what washed-up has-been ex-professional athletes are doing with their lives.

I’m sure I am a stronger person because of it

Jodi

I’m with Jodi on the mental toughness thing - I really think that has some value. As for outside in the snow, I think it depends on where you’re running. I try to avoid running in Downtown Denver when it snows because the probability of slipping into a street or something is fairly good in some of the areas that I run. If you’re not concerned with any potential disasters like that, I’d say it wouldn’t be bad to run outside, either. Running in crappy conditions has some mental toughness advantages as well.

Dreadmill… you’ll get a better workout, won’t feel like you only “survived” the run, and train your body to hold a pace and increase it for a long steady period. Then when the weather’s nice your run will be that much better. Just my opinion. Hate to say it but the treadmill has helped my running more than being outside.

-“Athletes train when they want to, champions train when they don’t”… or something like that.

i would tend to agree with you, but two things i would like about being outside. i have not run outside in three weeks and am ready to kill that room with our tredmills, and i would like some vareiation in my workouts, as cool as running towards a mirror for the 703rd mile is.

Agreed. The treadmill is great for focused workouts (fartleks, tempo, hill work, short pickups, etc.). It’s a bear for long runs. I wouldn’t do 12 mi on it.

Hey newbz, if you go out, enjoy it, and make it epic! You’ll be stronger for it.

I’ll make a deal with you…I’ve got a 90 min run today…and a snowstorm blowing (school got cancelled)…I’ve been planning to go to the indoor track and run it…but I’ll go out if you do…deal?
