Small Pool Swimming Options

In an effort to increase my opportunities to swim I am researching stationary swim options for a small (10’ X 25’) backyard pool. I have looked at the Strechcordz, Zura Stationary Swimmer, Home Swimmer and the Super Swim system. Does anyone have any experience with these systems and be able to make a recommendation? The Super Swim appears to be one of the better designs. Does stationary swimming compare to lap swimming? Is there much diffrence between moving myself through the water as opposed to pulling the water past me? Right now I can get into a lap pool twice a week for a masters swimm class, so the stationary swimming will be to suppliment that.

I have looked at the Endles Pools FastLane but that is not an option at this time ($$$$).

I have tried a stretchcord in my pool, and did not expect the biggest problem - waves! When people are standing and playing in a pool, you don’t notice, but just sitting in one place swimming you generated a LOT of water motion, which in a typical backyard pool (no gutters or lanelines) just radiates back into the pool).

I would guess that this would be common to many of the solutions - except maybe the flow kind, like endless pool.

Bump.

I swam in college and we would swim at the hall of fame pool in FL. During some workouts we used fishing rod like units which would attach to the deck. (im think this is what ur looking at) They were ok for a temp workout but they are hard. I would not replace swim work outs with this type of unit, but it can help and is for sure better than not getting in the pool. Hope this helps.

Consider a Vasa Ergometer. I use one, and I used a Vasa Trainer until I got the ergometer. Search for Vasa and you can find some threads that discuss them.

Summary - My result, which is similar to other Vasa users, is that I swim faster NOT going to the pool and instead using the ergometer. (The same was true when I only had the trainer.) The reason is that it is convenient, so I use it a lot. Much more total time than I could get in the water. Even when I swim the same total weekly time as I use my Vasa, I am not faster; just the same speed.
