Slowtwitch Tundra Division Moving to PNW Division

Anybody want to buy a log cabin in the woods of New Hampshire? 132 POOCHAM RD, WEST CHESTERFIELD, NH 03466 Single Family Residence For Sale | MLS# 5040539 | RE/MAX

The Boss has a new job, running labor relations for Fred Meyer (Kroger). We’re trying to figure out where in the greater PDX region we’ll be buying house, which must have an under 90 minute trip over to Mount Hood as that’s where the small person’s new ski team will be.

Already mostly figured out school – she’s going to go to either All Saints or Our Lady of the Lake. Also figured out golf, but, well, I guess that’s less important…

Suggestions? Stuff I should know? We begin the grand journey in the Family Truckster on June 21st (Kroger is paying to move most of our stuff, we’re driving the dogs and anything the moving company won’t take in a four day hell ride.)

I was going to suggest Lake Oswego - nicer area and Clackamas county has some benefits over Multnomah, but it sounds like your school options are already tied to Portland.

We’re looking at houses in Lake Oswego, and our favorite school is there (OLL).

The problem is that it’s easily a quarter of a million dollars more for a house there that doesn’t need a shitton of work versus, say, Happy Valley. (We won’t be in Multnomah County, our realtor has already clued us in there).

Yeah that’s sort of the Pacific Northwest in a nutshell for the last few years :(. Particularly in areas with good schools.

I do wish you luck. I learned to ski when I was a kid at Mt. Hood. Good memories there.

Hey!
I run the U12/Youth Ski League program for the Multnomah Athletic Club. So, feel free to reach out if you want to discuss the various Teams/Programs on Mount Hood for your young athlete.

And, I live 1/2 Mile from Our Lady of the Lake (where Bruce Springsteen was married). So, if you are moving to Lake Oswego, we can also help since my spouse is a City Councilor in town.

Happy to be a local resource to connect to all things running, riding, swimming, schools, etc.

Regards,
JCP

Happy Valley is where our realtor is pushing us pretty hard, as the public schools are decent and still a pretty easy drive over.

We literally are going to land in Oregon, and Ivy will start ski camp the next day with the new race team.

I have a friend who may be selling his home in Happy Valley (he’s done Kona ~12 times). And, we can give you the skinny on the weird situation for the house next door to us on Chandler Place (which could provide some interesting potential).

Well. We should chat.

Booo! I always appreciated you being a fellow NH-ite. Sorry you’re moving, but sounds like it’ll be a pretty sweet new chapter!

Make sure to start a travel post for your trek cross-country…

Good luck, and enjoy!

I mean, at heart I will always be a Masshole.

Oregon was always on the short list of places that we could see ourselves moving to. It just happened to all come together very quickly in March, and here we are.

If anybody has a bed cover or cap recommendation for a Ford F150 SuperCrew with the short bed…all ears, as we’re going to need it for the trip…

Good luck out west!

Sort of related, have you seen this?
