Slowtwitch Training Camp

Pardon my EXTREME ignorance of the periodicity of training smackdowns on slowtwitch. Maybe someone is going to write me back in the next hour and say “fool, we are all about 2 weeks away from our year’s A-races, so go away” but, BUT, it behoofs me to ask if anyone is up for a few weeks of challenges on the mileage-meters.

I have decided that Im going to have some fun in the next month. That is my only training goal for my next race, late August.

If no one responds, Ill be posting my training updates anyway. Since I truly have no one to talk to around here… and a lot of this is monitoring hours trained vs. liters of beer consumed and keeping the exponential or logarithmic effects of either, at bay.

How about 1 point for every 2K swim, 100K ride and 12K run and 1 point for every 1K swim, 20K bike or 5K run over and above those numbers, in one session? By the time we figure out the math, it will be August and all will be well.

Well, I don’t have my next race till cancun in September. But, I am headed out for 200 in the morning. First time at that distance. So, next week might be a little bit of a scratch. We’ll see what happens.

Hey, how about a little affirmative action here? Why does it have to be a “New Mexico” smackdown? Triathlon is a “world wide” sport… so, lets talk shop. A few more mini-rules:

.1. Check-ins are on Sunday or anytime that the soul just needs to babble.
.2. Swimming with fins DOES NOT count
.3. Beer consumed during/after/before training can only be nullified if total number of hours trained (in a day) exceeds 5.63.
.4. Periodization is a VERB and applied only to slapping one’s consternation around while swimming and wondering why one is wasting money on plane tickets instead of some other ignoble cause.

Girl–why don’t you just use slowman’s original point scheme???

1 point for every 100m in the pool
1 point for every mile ridden
4 points for every mile run

I’ll rack up some points from Aug. 1 - 4, then I’m taking a little training break. I’ll drink some virtual beers with you though!

When is your next race? Im not sure what I am doing except being on time for those virtual beers…

PS: we meed some negative re-inforcement like 3 points minus-ed for every 330ml of beer consumed, since that does NOT help the waistline. ponder that ms. clm.
