here’s our new team apparel. not that we have a team, per se, and not that we won’t. in either case, here’s our new apparel and now’s the time to order if you wish to proudly wear the slowtwitch colors ![]()
a couple things to keep in mind:
-
the color is more blue than the apparel pics on the storefront indicate. look at the blue on our slowtwitch logo of our storefront, on the upper left of the page, that’s a better representation of slowtwitch “blue.” the apparel colorway features two shades of blue, with gray accents, on white.
-
we’ll take orders for a week or two, then place our order with de soto. everything is made by de soto, either from the carrera or the essentials collections. it’s going to take 8 weeks or so to get it all made. it’s you pay now, you take possession when it’s finished. i’ll give full refunds to anyone who changes his or her mind anywhere along the way. it’s $8 flat shipping fee on the whole order, if we’re shipping inside north america, i think we charge a little extra for alaska and hawaii because we have to 2-day freight it. canada, i don’t know, let’s see what my storefront (which i just configured) says when you try to order from us. we charge sales tax if you’re in CA, otherwise we won’t. if our storefront does incorrectly charge you sales tax, please let me know.
-
pricing: i’ve tried to maintain the same pricing de soto charges on its stock items. as you might guess, it’s a lot more costly to get stuff made custom than for a store to buy the same unsublimated items off the shelf. nevertheless, as a customer i wouldn’t want to pay more than that same garment costs sans team logos. so that’s how i’ve priced it. i think one garment we’re selling is $4 more than the non-logo’d version, and one is $3 less. most are exactly the same price as the unsublimated de soto item.
-
we may slightly change the design, because of one concern we have. but it’ll be a change you’re not likely to notice much, or care about much. there are certain sizes we may not end up making, such as XXXL. we’ll see how our orders go. if we don’t make the garment you ordered, we’ll know in 2 weeks, i’ll credit back your credit card and let you know that the credit is forthcoming.
FISTapalooza
it’s on for mar 21/22, here at the compound. you can sign up for fit appointments on the storefront. we’re inviting all the socal clubs: san diego, orange county, l.a., santa barbara, inland inferno, and so forth. we’ve hosted clubs here a lot, but never multiple clubs. you’ll bring your tents and camp on the property. no charge. if you’re not a camper, we’ve got rooms. for this there’s a charge. it’ll be USAT sanctioned, so, $10 if you’re not a USAT annual member, no charge if you are. food: bring your own, or we’ll BBQ, but we’ll charge you if you’re eating our BBQ. that’s monty’s gig. i think it’s $25 for the BBQ only, $35 a day if you want a full day’s worth of food. it’s saturday and sunday.
cervelo will be here with its fleet of demo bikes. several local bike shops will be here, fitting, and with expo tents. i’ll be selling my fleet of excess bikes in various sizes to the highest bidders, all the money going to the slowtwitch foundation (which you don’t know about yet but will by the end of the month).
there will be organized rides and runs over the two days. it’ll be a training weekend.
fittings: $200 per. there’ll be a fleet of mandaric-made exit cycling fit bikes here (well, there already is, but a bigger fleet on that weekend). we’ll be inviting the prominent tri bike retailers, most will attend. they’ll be doing the fittings, but rappstar and i will be co-fitting with them, that is, we’ll be attending and “supervising” every fit. what you’ll get as output is:
- what your fit coordinates are;
- how to retrofit your existing bike to match the fit coordinates;
- what new tri bikes in the market today match your fit coordinates;
- what your best custom tri bike geometry would be.
the “point” of FISTapalooza, really, is to introduce and “handshake” triathletes in socal with good fitting and good fitters in socal, but to do it in a more hands-on way than simply hosting a database of certified fitters. we’re going to show you, over the weekend, en masse, what good tri bike fitting looks like.
you’ll no doubt here more about FISTapalooza from your local club. you don’t have to be a member of the club to attend. but we’ll specifically invite the clubs, so if you’re a member, you’ll find out particulars from your club.
