It will be a sad day to see this place go, so many great memories, stories, arguments, and the eclectic grouping of people. Paying of course will kill it, perhaps that is what is intended, but I hope cooler heads prevail and some sort of alternative compromise can be reached. I agree that without most or a lot of the community on board, it will be worthless to side with a few lone wolves to inbreed banterâŚAs much as I love the other forum, this is the one I check more often, and probably participate in tooâŚ
Since you (plural, including Ryan) mentioned you value feedback, here is mine.
I would not subscribe to access the LR. It is not a cost problem. I gladly contributed money to Tibbâs Cervelo when that came up. I gladly provided plane tickets to a forum member who mentioned his daughter needed experimental treatment he couldnât get her to etc. I would gladly have donated money to Dan if he had requested it, because I respected what he had done with this website.
Since the ownership change, I find my reading and engagement to the website and forum has greatly decreased. I donât blame you for it, I just conclude that the product you are offering does not align with the product I am seeking. That is why I wouldnât pay for it
Losing access to the LR would be a real shame, but if it is what you decide, so be it. Good luck in your ventures.
I like that model. It could be a sticky thread with a link. If someone wants to announce that theyâve contributed, they can post a comment that to the thread. If someone doesnât want to announce it, they donât. And if someone doesnât contribute, nobody will know.
someone asked me what any of your decisions have to do with âhonor.â thank you for your post because this is a perfect description of dishonorable behavior. here you are back again today to use the service others provide for you, but you refuse to pay a penny for it.
i still ride the slowtwitch jerseys both on the road and in zwift. i still think itâs the best looking jersey on zwift. i just wish i rode it faster.
Dan, what is dishonorable about now wanting to give people your money if they treat you like shit?
Regarding usage of the internet, thatâs kind of what the deal is often times. Businessâ make money off of individuals simply frequenting their space. Thereâs nothing wrong or dishonorable about us continuing to expect that OR asking for some justification.
You keep saying weâre dishonorable for not waiting to pay, but Iâve mentioned several times now (and others agree) that we would happily pay you. Paying isnât the issue here.
Iâd also offer a rebuttal that the way the guys holding out their hats have treated us is dishonorable.
Not to mention the lack of transparency which we can only assume are lies. They have openly admitted they donât really care about us or our LR platform so why is it a leap to assume their suspicious communication is nothing but lies?
Again, itâs not that we donât want to payâŚso please stop saying weâre dishonorable for that.
First of all, I didnât question what any of our decisions have to do with honour. Secondly you seem to be completely missing the point about why so many people who can clearly afford to donât want to pay for this particular service.
Just an FYI - Pretty much EVERYONE involved (except @Slowman) has behaved badly/said stupid stuff they should not have said. How about everyone just chill and see how things work out.
If we all put this much energy into getting people out to vote or getting decent candidates, weâd be in a much better situation.
I would like to welcome @ironclm as the official Secretary of State ( great suggestion @Slowman ) She has been given Mod rights⌠She is someone I have known for years personally and someone I call quite often to ask how to handle all you humans Im going to go focus on making Slowtwitch + the best experience for the users that want it⌠She and other long lasting community members will tell me what âWeâ should do about this space on the internetâŚ
You make a solid point about the behavior. It should be noted that only the site owners are asking the site users for money. The site users are simply wondering what the heck is going on. So, emotional and yes at times poor behavior from people wondering what is happening to a place they feel a bit invested in might be somewhat expected. Poor behavior from business owners towards their proposed paying customers? Never learned that in business classesâŚ
I have that type of interaction recently with a business (tri related)âŚasked a question about a device and the response was a mix of being condescending and being downright an asshole.
