Slowman Wetsuitapalooza?

I don’t know how feasible this would be but after reading the wetsuit review, wouldn’t a day by the pool with swimmers and 3-5 wetsuit retailers demoing and promoting suits be a great thing? I know that when i chose my last wetsuit, I just tried it on on the store but I had no idea how it felt in the water. Just a thought.

well, we do have a 25yd, 3-lane, competition pool on the property. maybe that might be a good idea.

what’s the water temp in the pool right now?

no swimming in the pool currently. not heated. fortunately, we have 2 new pools in town, so we’re swimming with pools, so to speak.

Crystal clear blue waters. Upper 50’s when I was in it on Election Day back in the fall but it felt at least 61 or so. Full suit and neoprene hood, you can do it.

Wetsuitapalooza?

Great idea. I had asked Dan about this a while back. Was keen on coming out, but my schedule, has changed.

Maybe next year.

Dan - what sort of numbers are you expecting for this?

Pool temps here are in the low 50’s so good ice down stuff. Fullsuit and hood is possible too…

Wetsuitapalooza sounds like a fun event. Nothing disrespectful to Dans pool or place, but it just isn’t a place that several thousand swimmers might show up at. Why not put on an event like that at some of the major north american IM events where practice swims occur for three days before the main event … it would have the potential of 3-5000 real swimmers there between competitors, volunteers, family members who compete in triathlons and locals. Currently blue seventy has been the only suit easily demo’d right at lakeside … but how cool would it be to have 5-8 other wetsuits available for demo right at the lake with reps to answer questions and fit suits. Certainly those there would have to be confident in their suits to show up for an event like that … great for triathletes. Trying on a wetsuit in a store or swimming in a pool with one just isn’t the same as swimming 1000-2000m open water … it would be a cool event.
Anyway … just another thought.

Am picking it is not that easy to arrange such a thing.

Sponsors will be paying to be represented at each of thoses big events so that they can put up a display tent etc.

It might be possible to do at a smaller independent run event. Possibly something like Silverman?
