Slot breakdown for Waco?

Looks like only 800-900 participants, anyone done a age group break down of the slots?

Allocations are posted in the info section of the Ironman tracker app
.

thx!

Only 644 finishers.

Only 644 finishers.

That sounds like my type of race. Enough people that it feels like a solid event, not enough to overcrowd on swim and bike.

You’re dead on. Outside the first couple hundred meters, swim was completely solo with no interference, the bike was very not congested. It was pretty great.

The slot allocation was extremly generous. A friend of mine finishes 6/18 gets a slot to St George?!!

So apparently they had some Kona slots on offer for the AG winners and then St. George slots for the rest. A gal I know in 30-34 was 6th, in her AG the winner took Kona and there were 2 St. George slots, one of which rolled to her at 6th. So they are stil trying to fill up that May race.

In deed, she is one of my early morning swim buddies.

The slot allocation at Waco is horrendous and a slap in the face to all other races. 55-59 had 54 finishers and awarded **8 **slots. IM Chattanooga with 164 finishers in the same age group got 1 maybe 2.

Is there anywhere to see who slots were awarded to? Curious to see how far 45-49 rolled down.

8 slots for Kona plus St. George or Kona only?

When was the number of total WC slots (119) for the race first announced?

Congrats to all 8 slot winners in 55-59. The More people who get slots now my chances get better and better by next summer if I do an Ironman (likely Lake placid, Tremblant or Penticton). I think Placid is my best shot given how many in the north east slightly faster than me already have slots. The Canadian races will be harder as we have been shut out of local Ironmans and could not drive to US races

900 registered, 777 started, 644 finished.

Rolldown for St. George slots on the men’s side was crazy. Several age groups had more slots than athletes in attendance at the award ceremony, so almost any male that went to rolldown got a St. George slot.

I was first man out of a Kona slot in my age group, so I took a St. George slot, and seeing how it played out I’m not sure how much of an achievement that is.

Do you (or anyone) know how deep the kona slots rolled for 50-54? (I was way outside of the outer bubble but still curious, given how crazy it has been over the last few years)

Well at least you are humble about it. Good job on a slot to St. George! Better than a stick in the eye;) It is not particularly fair how some of the slots roll down. I think perhaps having to finish within a certain percentage of the 1st place athlete before rolling down in each age group would go a long way in preserving the integrity of a world championship race. Of course then you get the odd “ex”pro (in the younger a.g.’s) that raced pro for one year and then went back to age group that skews/messes with the algorithms. It is a flawed system.

There were only a small handful of Kona slots that rolled down. At most that age group rolled down 1 spot but I don’t remember exactly.
