Slipping seat-post

I have a 2010 P3, about a month old and for some reason the seat isn’t gripping as much as it needs to, even when tightened to the appropriate force. Not sure if this is a common P3 problem or if its just me, but if anyone has any ideas how to solve it, feel free to give your .02.

A little tooth paste on the seat tube should fix your problem. Or you can get a tube of friction paste from your LBS.

+1 on good old fashioned PASTE toothpaste (gel doesn’t work).

Mark the height of the post. Remove the post and wipe it clean. Apply some carbon paste (you can get it at your LBS) and reassemble to the specified torque.

Or just pull it out and roll it around in the dirt and jam it back in.

Carbon paste.

A home remedy is Aquanet. Spray it on and set the height. It dries to produce enough “stick” to prevent slippage without being a glue.

yes,it’s a common problem.both the seat post and the nose of the saddle tend to slip.you don’t want to tighten it too much either.you can use some carbon paste or, what I have done, put some of that sticky paste which is used to fasten bolts.not sure what it’s called in english.

Hair gel or hair spray works well. Wrap electrical tape around the bottom edge of the seat post where it enters the frame. Take the seat post out. Spray some hair spray below the tape and smear it around with your finger. Put seat back and torque down to proper numbers. Wait 24 hours to ride it again.

That’s worked for me for a couple years now. If you leave the electrical tape around the base of the seat post where it enters the frame it’ll show you if your seat starts slipping almost immediately rather than waiting for it to be measurable.
