I bought an Xterra sleevless wetsuit last year in an XL because im about 6’2 205 with a beefy upperbody and did not want to be restcited with the smaller size. The suit fits tight for sure but I get water in through the arm holes after about 5 minutes of swimming in the pool or open water.
Is this normal for all sleevless wet suits? Or a sizing issue?
You shouldn’t be dry after getting in the water, but water should just slowly seep in and not pour in. If the suit bulges at all with water, then it doesn’t fit right.
I know this may sound strange, but you will always be faster, warmer(if important) and more comfortable, in a well fitted full sleeve wetsuit.
When shopping for a wetsuit, don’t be swayed, by hype, marketing, what your friends are wearing, or special deals/prices - get the best fitting wetsuit for you. With triathlon wetsuits . . .* fit is everything!*
You should get some water in the wetsuit. The water in the wetsuit is what provides the warmth and some of the bouyancy. The suit should be tight enough around the arms that you have to let water in, it should not just seep in. If it does, your suit does not fit right.
